A HISTORIC TIME FOR HOPE FROM AMERICA FOR THE WORLD – BARACK OBAMA

On the Eve of History, I pay tribute to the next President of the United States of America: Mr. Barack Hussein Obama II, whose election to the highest office of the land appears to have opened new doors for the countless disenfranchised masses of the World, while making new connections through innate perceptions…

In addition to his assertive, self-controlled nature, inherent inclination to Reason & Compassion along with stimulating ideals, President Obama also appears to possess a certain ethereal quality which automatically mollifies everyone, including some of the enemies and opponents of our nation - even if after a fashion, and for a limited amount of time...

Indeed, by electing Mr. Obama these United States have undergone significant transformation, and acquired a brand new “face” while reviving an old source of “inspiration & ideals", and rendering the Land of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and JFK once again worthy of global respect & admiration!

The ideal approach for the inhabitants of our small blue planet at this rather significant point in World History, would be the collective adoption of minor steps towards “hope”… If only mankind could take advantage of the potential for monumental changes, which suddenly appeared lying ahead of us, ever since the astounding results of the 2008 American Presidential election were announced, humanity might surprise itself as well as the rest of the Universe...

Provided Mr. Obama "does the walk" as magnificently well as he articulates so many noble ideals, provided all Americans make a collective effort, and truly endeavor to contribute, by joining this ethereal wave of Hope hovering upon a blue horizon, Martin Luther King’s and John Lennon’s dreams might even materialize…

If all of us could only give Mr. Obama the benefit of a doubt, for a sustained period of time, mankind might miraculously move another small step forward and planet Earth could even become a slightly better place...

Let's hope US flourish under the leadership of OBAMA. I feel that there is something special about him that makes the world gives a standing ovation to this great man, though he had not started his journey.

Man, that was well said. Excellent commentary.

Many thanks for your visit, and most especially for you comments!
In such a momentous occasion, I simply felt compelled to contribute in a very small yet significant fashion towards the Historic day when History is being made…

Likewise, many thanks for your visit. As indicated in my mini-essay, "Hope" is in the air across America. In fact, it appears to have spread throughout the entire world – from Nairobi to Seattle, from Honolulu to Stockholm – in order to rejoice and celebrate this historic occasion, using your words, in "standing ovation" for greatness!

Hi Augustus,

An Excellent and thought provoking essay and please do accept my "Parabéns". You may be happy to know that may educated and traditional Brasilians share your thoughts.

I think that BHO has all the qualities for bringing some peace to this "Blue Planet". Born of an American Mother from Kansas and father from Kenya and having lived in Indonesia as a child, he must be more sensible towards the "underdogs" in the rest of the world. During the past 8 years, we have been hearing only about "War on Terror", "WMD and yellow cakes in Iraq", "Mission accomplished" etc, without any peace in sight.

I sincerely hope that BHO declares that the "War on Terror" is over and concentrates more on "Innovativeness" to better the lives of the inhabitants of this planet. After all U.S. is still the leader of the free world.

BHO´s inauguration speech was a good sign. BTW, hope our "Rulers" wouldn't get upset if he does not pay attention to them during the next few days.

Once again, congrats for the nice essay.

As an Indonesian, I must protest for not including Jakarta!!!

Many thanks for your kind words. In addition, I must also "agradecer" your constant, slight encouragement to write and share my views and (some crazy) ideals with the rest of the World.
As for Mr. Obama's inauguration, it was simply remarkable, touching, and (again) historic!!!
My sole (continued) disagreement with you remains the point regarding the "war on terror" which is UNFORTUNATELY not over (even though it COULD be if our terrorist nemesis were to consider giving peace & the New America a chance...)
Let's all continue the celebration
From Jakarta to Boston,
From London to San Diego, and
From Chicago to Rio de Janeiro…
:-)

Esteemed Indonesian Anonymous:
Firstly, I must wholeheartedly thank you for visiting my humble blog; and for bringing to my attention that my words have reached the distant and extremely important Indonesian Archipelago…
Secondly, I must shamefully beg your pardon for having omitted your beloved Jakarta, and unforgivable error which I have already rectified during my previous comment… Yet, in my defense I may only contend the important fact that I had equally omitted my city of birth - RIO (equally corrected above), as I have overlooked my dear place of residence for many years.
Since this residual error remains to be rectified, I must equally rejoice the fact that Mr. Obama’s significance is recognized (and hopefully appreciated in your lovely country of origin… Thus, the celebration continues:
From NEW YORK CITY to Moscow;
From Fairfax (Virginia) to Bangalore; and
From the District of Columbia to Blumenau (southern Brazil)…

While I join you in paying tribute to Mr.Obama II, I would also like to congratulate his predecessor Mr.George W. Bush for having left the office with dignity. He might have committed plenty of blunders during his 8 years mandate, but the greatest trait (IMHO) was not to meddle with the constitution of the U.S. to extend his mandate for one more term or try to force the Republican party to nominate his younger brother Jeb Bush as the candidate for the Presidential elections.

As a History scholar and a Brazilian who keeps track of current events, you must be aware that several despot leaders in Latin America are working to continue their reign on their respective countries by changing the constitution or sponsoring their "near and dear ones" as candidates. One glaring example is Mr.Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. Another one is Nestor Kirchner of Argentina who managed to elect his own wife to succeed him! We don't know yet how things are going to work out in the "Largest Democracy" in Latin America next year. But all indicates that new dynasties will be formed to share power with the old and traditional ones and together they will continue ruling their respective "plantations".

This reply is intended for the latest "anonymous" visitor, whom I am certain to be non-other than the famous blogger "double-dot" - the king of Brazilian blogs" (LOL)

Naturally, I agree whole heartedly with your views and add my full disagreement (and strong protest) against the shameful South American practice of "amending constitutions" for the sake of extending the Presidential mandates and thereby bypassing the "rule of law" and establishing illegitimate "political dynasties" – which lack any remote connection to a former imperial family which may have ruled the nation in its past - such as the case of ORLEANS E BRAGANÇA in Brazil or the HOUSE OF HABSBURG in Mexico.

Anyhow, I truly hope that Brazil will not follow the Argentinean & Venezuelan examples…
