A tad of Modern Brazil - Rio or São Paulo?

RIO DE JANEIRO - a.k.a. "The Wonderful City" is undoubtedly one of the world's most beautilful metropolises! Despite the recent increase in crime, along with the customary corruption - inherent at all levels of Brazilian republican system, most Cariocas (as the natives are called locally) would hardly consider switching their lovely seaside paradise for any other, more glamorous, spot on Earth...
SÃO PAULO - a.k.a. “Pauliceia” is not only the World’s 4th largest city, but also unquestionably the most exciting, glamorous and cosmopolitan metropolis in South America (rivaled only by Buenos Aires), despite an equal increase in crime and the bad reputation which its proud citizens (locally called “Paulistanos”) generally have within the Brazilian territory…
BBC FACTOID: Rio de Janeiro is currently the 3rd most expensive city in Latin America (although globally it reaches only the 139th spot). São Paulo’s position, on the other hand, is the 5th in Latin America (and 162nd worldwide)

The problem with Rio and São Paulo is that the Brasilian commoners like my good self find both the cities to be too expensive. The "Rulers" of these cities try to attract rich foreign and domestic tourists and forget the "Commoners" that have no "Tios" and "Tias" to stay with, while visiting those cities.

It would be rather surprising if the anonymous author of the last gracious entry were none other than the most cunning, instigating, and elusive Brazilian Blogger, whose views and opinions tend to be widely respected across various multinational websites: Double-Dot

Presuming that I have correctly identified my last “caller”, regardless of his actual social stratum (patrician or plebeian), I would be all astonishment if he could not actually afford paying a visit to the main Metropolitan Axis of his country. I am scarcely inclined to believe that so illustrious a persona would have any financial misgivings when considering a brief excursion to either the Wonderful City or Pauliceia…

Conversely, should my honorable visitor turn out to be any other gentleman (or lady), I would be obliged to pronounce the alleged words of the last Queen of France: “why worry about bread when one may indulge on cakes and brioches?”
